Merlin Rocket National Championships, Looe 2008

RACING DETAILS

Trailer and car parking

Boats can be dropped off at the seafront, and a team will be on hand to help with this. Trailers will be parked on a secure farm 2 miles outside of Looe and below is a map to show the way to the trailer park and carpark. It will help with the traffic flow if you can use the one-way system that LSC have marked on the map!

The Millpool carpark is situated on the West Looe side of the bridge. Parking here can be pre-booked using the entry form, for a fee of £20 for the week. Please be aware that this is non-refundable and that after the 1st of July, competitors will have to organise their own parking.

Scruitineering and Registration

Will take place on Saturday 16th August between 1000 - 1800 hours.

Boat weighing and registration will take place near the seafront, next to the RNLI shop, and sail measuring will take place in LSC.

There will be an opportunity for latecomers to be scruitineered between 9am-10am on the Sunday morning by prior arrangement, so please let us know if you will be arriving on the Sunday. NB this is not an opportunity for reweighing of boats.

Briefings

There will be a competitors briefing by Roger Hocking at 8pm on Saturday 16th in the RNLI boathouse on the seafront.

Female competitors will be able to use the toilet facilities on the Commitee boat between races  - there may be a charge for the Championship teams drink kitty!

Sailing will take place out at sea, approximately 30 minutes sail out from the beach. The Crew's Race will take place within the bay using the club buoys so that spectators can observe!

Tallying

LSC will organise a tally system at the beachmasters hut. Tallies will only be released when competitors are able to launch, and must be dropped into a box. Failure to tally will result in a £5 fee payable to the RNLI.

Beach Crew

There will be a team on the beach to help with trolleys so that minimum disruption is caused to other people on the beach.

Boat security

LCS will provide a man and his dog from 10pm-3am Saturday-Friday inclusive to patrol the area where the boats are parked. However MROA and LSC cannot accept any responsibility for any damage to boats arising inside or outside of these hours.

Food and drink

Unfortunately we are not allowed to have alcohol on the beach after sailing, but the LSC bar will be open every day straight after sailing, and the club can be entered in sailing kit if it is drip-dry!

There are many local snack-bars and cafes along the beach front, and they will be informed that there will be an influx of sailors who will need feeding and watering every afternoon!
